This\u00a0is prompting\u00a0IT leaders to\u00a0ask:\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Who owns these agents?\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>What\u2019s\u00a0allowed\u00a0and\u00a0what\u2019s\u00a0not?\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>How do we audit decisions?\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>Most existing&nbsp;governance&nbsp;models&nbsp;haven\u2019t&nbsp;anticipated&nbsp;these sorts of questions.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-the-shift-to-citizen-ai-development\"><strong>The shift to\u00a0\u2018citizen AI development\u2019<\/strong>\u00a0<\/h3>\n\n<p>Tools like Microsoft Copilot Studio allow non-developers to build agents.\u00a0While this creates\u00a0huge opportunity, it lessens central control\u00a0and it raises questions around how this should be handled.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n<p>Some have likened it to the early anxiety around Power Platform adoption, but this comparison risks underplaying the potentially far greater consequences.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-who-is-responsible-for-ai\"><strong>Who\u00a0is responsible for\u00a0AI<\/strong>?\u00a0<\/h3>\n\n<p>While AI technologies typically fall under IT&#8217;s remit, AI as a strategic initiative may not. Should it be driven by Digital, by the business, or shared?\u00a0If so, how should ownership be structured? How should adoption be scaled?\u00a0<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-roi-is-hard-to-quantify\"><strong>ROI is hard to quantify<\/strong>\u00a0<\/h3>\n\n<p>Where\u00a0budgets are linked to ROI, at least initially,\u00a0the returns can be hard to quantify.\u00a0The\u00a0benefits are\u00a0likely\u00a0to be widely dispersed,\u00a0gains are incremental, and the real value\u00a0comes from many small improvements.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n<p>With so many&nbsp;unanswered questions and&nbsp;no&nbsp;clear starting point,&nbsp;there\u2019s&nbsp;a&nbsp;danger&nbsp;of inactivity.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-gaining-the-confidence-to-press-go\"><strong>Gaining the confidence to press \u2018Go\u2019\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n<p>For many,\u00a0the fundamental\u00a0problem\u00a0isn\u2019t\u00a0one of\u00a0technology.\u00a0Most organisations already have the\u00a0foundations in place with\u00a0Microsoft 365, SharePoint and Teams data, identity and access controls, and sound security\u00a0and governance.
