We’re on the lookout for a Data Engineer, to join our Business Systems team in Cape Town. Within the Business Systems Team the Data Engineer’s role is to tackle creative, complex, and technically challenging projects for a range of business systems and stakeholders.
Working closely with other developers, you will assist in the design and delivery of fully functional modules and application enhancements in an agile environment. You should have a deep knowledge of implementing scalable data solutions as the role will concentrate on ensuring Cloud Direct’s data is ready for analytics and AI.
As Cloud Direct moves towards its goal of being an AI frontier firm, experience in AI solutions will also be beneficial to the role. This is very much a ‘hands-on’ role where you will be self-managing your workload to have the biggest impact on the team’s success, so you should have a passion for development, an eye for detail, and an intrinsic motivation to succeed
What You’ll Do:
- Act as the team’s go-to expert for data engineering and analytics solutions.
- Work with product and business stakeholders to translate reporting and AI integration requirements into technical solutions.
- Develop and manage data warehouse solutions, ensuring data is cleansed, normalised, and structured for analytics and AI.
- Write high-quality, well-documented T-SQL, KQL, and Python code for transformations, validations, and orchestration.
- Collaborate with developers to enable data access for machine learning, LLMs, and other intelligent systems.
- Support reporting and dashboarding needs via Power BI, including data modelling and DAX.
- Work closely with developers and analysts to review and implement designs.
- Complete full functional testing of new data solution releases.
- Ensure data systems are reliable, secure and meet compliance requirements.
- Manage development backlog & assigned tasks within Azure DevOps.
- Weekly progress reporting against targets, projects, and development backlog.
- Work directly on customer projects if required.
What We’re Looking For:
- 3+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or similar role
- Strong experience with Azure-based data services, particularly Microsoft Fabric, Data Factory, Power BI, and Data Lakes
- Proficient in T-SQL, KQL, and Python for data processing and scripting
- Experience with Databricks, Delta Lake, or Apache Spark technologies
- Solid understanding of data warehousing principles, dimensional modelling, and ETL/ELT processes
- Familiarity with DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps
- Experience working in Agile teams and collaborating across disciplines
- AGILE Development principles and practices

We’re looking for a full-time Full Stack Developer with a strong focus on user experience (UX) and front-end design excellence to join our Business Systems Team. This role centers on developing and enhancing Cloud Direct’s customer portal, requiring solid expertise in C# .NET and React.js.
You’ll work on creative and technically challenging projects that support a range of business systems and stakeholders, collaborating closely with other developers in an agile environment to deliver fully functional modules and application improvements.
A genuine interest in user experience is essential, as your work will directly impact how customers interact with and perceive the value of our portal. This is a hands-on position where you’ll manage your own workload and contribute meaningfully to the team’s success. We’re looking for someone with a passion for development, a sharp eye for detail, and the creativity to bring ideas to life. As Cloud Direct continues its journey toward becoming a leader in AI-driven solutions, any experience or interest in AI technologies will be a valuable asset.
What You’ll Do:
- Produce high performing, well documented code.
- Assist with converting user requirements to innovative technical solution designs.
- Assist with key decisions on UI/UX design.
- Work closely with other developers to review and implement designs.
- Develop comprehensive system modules or enhancements.
- Complete full functional testing of new software releases.
- Manage development backlog & assigned tasks within Azure DevOps.
- Weekly progress reporting against targets, projects, and development backlog.
- Ensure systems’ integrity/security/availability.
- Work directly on customer projects if required.
What We’re Looking For:
- 3+ years of experience as a Software Engineer
- Strong understanding of Web Application development and SPAs
- UI/UX design and development using React.js
- C# (.NET 6+)
- SQL & NoSQL Databases (preference for MSSQL/Cosmos)
- RESTful API’s
- Microsoft Azure for deploying & hosting applications (AppService/Functions, API Management, Front Door, Storage, Application Insights/Log Analytics/Kusto, ARM/BICEP etc.)
- Azure DevOps (Repositories, Deployment Pipelines, CICD, Workload planning)
- Git or other version control software
- Secure development practices including DevSecOps
- AGILE Development principles and practices
