As an Azure Cloud Expert Engineer, you will provide high-level support to our customers, acting as an escalation point for Tier 2 support engineers and working alongside senior engineers to execute complex projects/onboardings.

You will ensure that service level agreements are met whilst delivering reliable resolution of customer technical issues when raised via Cloud Direct support lines, Live chat, e-mail or self-service portals.

What You’ll Do:

  • Azure Infrastructure: Provision and configure VMs, containers, and resources using ARM templates, Terraform, Bicep, and scripting (PowerShell). Optimize for cost, performance, and security.
  • Automation & IaC: Implement Infrastructure-as-Code using Azure DevOps, GitHub, and Visual Studio. Automate deployments and support processes.
  • Security & Compliance: Enforce best practices with tools like Azure Security Center, AAD, and Sentinel. Manage RBAC, conduct audits, and address vulnerabilities.

What We’re Looking For:

  • 3+ years of experience designing, implementing, and managing Azure cloud environments.

We’re on the lookout for a Data Engineer, to join our Business Systems team in Cape Town. Within the Business Systems Team the Data Engineer’s role is to tackle creative, complex, and technically challenging projects for a range of business systems and stakeholders.

Working closely with other developers, you will assist in the design and delivery of fully functional modules and application enhancements in an agile environment. You should have a deep knowledge of implementing scalable data solutions as the role will concentrate on ensuring Cloud Direct’s data is ready for analytics and AI.

What You’ll Do:

  • Act as the team’s go-to expert for data engineering and analytics solutions. 
  • Work with product and business stakeholders to translate reporting and AI integration requirements into technical solutions. 
  • Develop and manage data warehouse solutions, ensuring data is cleansed, normalised, and structured for analytics and AI. 
  • Write high-quality, well-documented T-SQL, KQL, and Python code for transformations, validations, and orchestration.

  • 3+ years as a Data Engineer or similar role.
  • Experience with Azure Data Bricks, Azure Data Factory (ADF), Synapse, Azure Event Hubs, Fabric & Purview.
  • Proficient in implementing and maintaining data pipelines with Azure Data Factory.
  • In-depth knowledge of Data Lake/Medallion Architecture.
  • Skilled in data modelling and ETL.
  • Supporting a Lamba architecture including both batch and real-time data streams.
  • Processing structured, semi-structured and unstructured data.
  • Knowledge of the Azure security model, including RBAC, Key Vault and Managed Identities.
  • Understanding of Cost management and optimisation of Azure resources.
