Changing the Voicemail greeting on a Panasonic handset
This article is intended for legacy Datel customers using the Panasonic VoIP handsets.
The Voicemail greeting on your Panasonic handset can be set for Day Mode or Night Mode.
- Day Mode - used during normal working hours. A recorded greeting is returned to the caller when the called line is busy or unanswered. For example, "Hello, this is (name). I can't take your call right now…".
- Night Mode – used outside normal working hours. A different recorded greeting is returned to the caller. For example, "Hello, this is (name). I've gone home for the day…".
There are times, such as holidays or Christmas break, when you may want to change your greeting message. This article describes how to:

If the change is for a temporary period only, then remember to record a new greeting when the period is over.
Review or modify your Day Mode greeting
Following the instructions below to:
- Play back your existing Day message,
- Clear your existing Day message, or
- Record a new Day message
To play back your Day message, proceed as follows.
- Pick up the handset.
- Dial *38802.
Listen for the confirmation tone, after which the Day message plays back.
- Replace the handset.
Clearing a Day message
To clear your Day message, proceed as follows.
- Pick up the handset.
- Dial *38800.
Listen for the confirmation tone.
- Replace the handset.
Recording a Day message
To record a new Day message, proceed as follows.
- Pick up the handset.
- Dial *38801.
Listen for the confirmation tone.
- Follow the voice prompt, and record your message.
- Press Auto Dial/Store.
Listen for the confirmation tone, after which the Day message plays back.
- Replace the handset.
Review or modify your Night Mode greeting
Following the instructions below to:
- Play back your existing Night message,
- Clear your existing Night message, or
- Record a new Night message
Playing back a Night message
To play back your Night message, proceed as follows.
- Pick up the handset.
- Dial *38812.
Listen for the confirmation tone, after which the Night message plays back.
- Replace the handset.
Clearing a Night message
To clear your Night message, proceed as follows.
- Pick up the handset.
- Dial *38810.

- Replace the handset.
Recording a Night message
To record a new Night message, proceed as follows.
- Pick up the handset.
- Dial *38811.
Listen for the confirmation tone.
- Follow the voice prompt, and record your message.
- Press Auto Dial/Store.
Listen for the confirmation tone, after which the Night message plays back.
- Replace the handset.
Your new Night message has been recorded.
